COA: This work comes with a letter of authenticity from Renny Pritikin.
Collection Note:
This panel was originally part of the construction fence surrounding the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco. Then curator, Renny Pritikin, commissioned Barry McGee to paint a mural on the fence, which was later removed when construction was complete. These panels have become his most known early work.
There were 60 panels that sold for $3,000 to $30,000 apiece, the demand for the panels signaled fluidity between vastly diverse spheres of interest. The fervor of skate kids and the logomania of sneaker freaks met the tastes of public-art audiences and private collectors.
This piece is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Charles Ward confirming that Barry Mc Gee created this unique work for Yerba Buena.
