Additional Info: “The Angel” by Marc Chagall is a one of his illustrations of the Bible, which brings the story of an angel to life. A shining yellow and lime green angel riding backwards on a white horse or mule is drawn with schematic brush strokes. The angel’s flight is shown concisely in a deeply black, quick and determined style. The sun on the upper right Appears to be emerging from a turbulent sky filled with grays and blues. This impressive portrayal creates an impression that the angel would, on the animal’s back, fight against the forces of nature. This lithograph measures 12.5 inches tall by 9.5 inches wide and was created in 1960 as a part of a bound book. This piece comes framed in a black semi-gloss contemporary scoop frame and double matted with white linen and glossy black matting.
