Additional Information: Maurizio Cattelan is best known for his satirical and controversial sculptures. Originally placed on West 20th Street in Chelsea, New York, The Wrong Gallery was conceived in 2002 by Cattelan, Massimiliano Gioni, and Ali Subotnick as a commentary on the art market and gallery system. The title originated from Cattelan’s amusement with people saying, “It’s a great show, but it’s in the wrong gallery.” The original, full-scale The Wrong Gallery, has been on view at the Tate Modern, London since 2005 as part of its permanent collection. This edition recreates the work at a 1:6 scale for home installation. Maurizio Cattelan recently made international headlines with his controversial Comedian work exhibited at Art Basel Miami, which consisted of a banana duck taped to a gallery wall.
