Exhibition History: 2021 Lady Pink: “HERstory of Graffiti”
In Sisters Oh Sisters, Lady Pink combines her penchant for activism with images of chromatic flora and fauna. Lady Pink’s heavy-handed symbolism addresses the challenges women face today – poverty, and incarceration, among others. Expounding her wide visual vocabulary, Lady Pink positions her work within a larger feminist tradition. Through her art, Lady Pink reimagines a world where women of color find a voice in history and modern-day politics. The imagery of a woman of color, a mother and her child, and a figure holding a sign saying “Think Pink”, all correspond with the artist’s intention to amplify the important presence of women, especially women of color, and feminism in all spaces of modern society and acknowledging the fight is not over.
Sisters Oh Sisters was exhibited in the artist’s solo exhibition Lady Pink: Graffiti HerStory at the Museum of Graffiti, Miami, in 2021.
