Self-portrait is a rare lithograph with applied fabric collage, based on a 1982 acrylic and collage painting. While Yayoi Kusama is often photographed standing in front of her works, it is unusual to see a work in which she is the main subject. In this self-portrait, Kusama’s likeness is formed by the nets and dots for which she has become known. The importance of this work is illustrated by the fact that Kusama has chosen it as the header image for her website. It is elegantly matted in the original vintage handmade wooden frame, with a slightly beveled edges.
Signed, titled, dated, and numbered in pencil; this artwork has been confirmed by the Yayoi Kusama studio.
