Additional Info: April Gornik (American, b. 1953) is recognized for her American landscape paintings. Her pieces evoke an emotional impact through her use of color and contrast. Gornik has cited Barbara Takenaga, Francesco Clemente, David Salle, Anselm Kiefer, Amy Myers, and Matthew Ritchie as artistic influences, as well as her husband, painter Eric Fischl. Gornik’s work is featured in many public and private collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C., and The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., among others.
