Additional Info: This print features Judy, a recurring subject in many of Wesselmann’s prints. Here, Wesselmann depicts Judy as a gaze-less reclining nude, rendered in a gestural style that exemplifies Wesselmann’s mature work. The piece reflects all of the iconic visual and ideological themes prevalent in the artist’s nudes, including an overall abstraction of the nude and a sense of explicit sexuality. Wesselmann utilizes clean breaks of deeply saturated colors, which together not only emphasize the woman’s figure against the background, but also draw attention to her body.
