Zhong Biao’s paintings depict cultural symbols and human figures that seem to defy time and space. They are infused with Eastern and Western imagery, as well as historical and modern aspects, that all coexist in his “fantasy-scapes,” reflecting the reality of life in modern-day China. Seen in this work, A Sudden Glance, the artist paints vibrant figures in color set against stark black and white backgrounds in swirling, apocalyptic compositions.
His work is in public collections including Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, China; Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai, China; Singapore Art Museum, Singapore and Gwangju Museum of Art, Gwangju, South Korea.
